Who We Are.
Stand Up OC is a nationally-focused, locally-driven grassroots organization of local activists, community leaders, and dedicated volunteers. Alumni of the Hillary For America 2016 Presidential campaign, our unprecedented network of volunteers and leaders across Orange County, CA remain committed to promoting the American Values of Inclusion, Compassion and Justice for All in our public sphere. These broadly shared ideas proved themselves perilously vulnerable to disregard and derision in the midst of the last election campaign.
The 4 Congressional Districts in Orange Country were won by Secretary Clinton. The first time in 80 years a Democratic Presidential candidate won. We attribute that success to our network of tens of thousands of volunteers across the county who organized and engaged millions voters across the country. We will continue to utilize the tools and levers available to us to participate in the democratic process and make our voices heard. We know that we really are Stronger Together.
23 Republican-held congressional districts voted for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump! Seven of these districts were in California with four right here in Orange County’s backyard … CD-39, CD-45, CD-48, and CD-49! Orange County has traditionally been a solid fortress for Republican politics, frequently being referred to as the Orange Curtain. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee [DCCC] declared Orange County as ground zero to Flip the House in the 2018 Mid-Term Elections! Political scientists and pundits continue to predict the battle for these seats will determine control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
We've develop strategies to target voters and ensure they vote. We have an established, successful track record for training both the grassroots novice and the seasoned organizer. Stand Up sponsored, developed, trained and expanded neighborhood canvasses and virtual phone banks in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine, Aliso Viejo and Laguna Beach. We also had virtual phone banks in cities outside of Orange County calling voters in Orange County. These canvasses and phone banks consistently had significantly higher voter contact rates than the norm.
